PORTLAND, Maine – January 29, 2018 – The XPL announced today that Essex Eagles guard Rick Allen has been named XPL League Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 28. Allen is the first member of the Eagles to receive this award this season.

Allen played in 2 games for Essex last week, averaging 38.0 points per game, including a 46-point performance in Tuesday’s game at Boston. The individual scoring output was the 4th most in Eagles history.

To go with his 38.0 points per game, Allen also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists for the week, as well as 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game.

Allen followed up his 46-point performance with a near triple-double on Thursday – 30 points (10-19 FG), 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

Allen, who is under a two-way contract with the New York Blue Wings, is currently with the XBL parent club and is expected to be in uniform for the Blue Wings tonight against Denver. A product of Arizona, Allen was a 2nd Round XBL Draft Pick by the New York Blue Wings in the 2017 XPL Draft.
